How to configure Windows Live Writer with your Blogger account

It is easy to configure your Blogger account with Windows Live Writer. To configure Windows Live Writer with your account, you should have the following information ready

Your Blogger Address

Your Blogger  Username

Your Blogger Password

Open Windows Live Writer

(If Windows Live Writer is not installed on your PC, follow the link to download it)

Click Next  and proceed with the configuration

Choose Other Services which includes blogger and click Next

At “Add a blog account” screen, Enter you blogger address followed by your username and password

Proceed by clicking Next and Windows Live Writer will check the configuration

If the entered information are correct, you will be taken to to the final screen where it will ask you to type your blog’s name. Enter The name and click Finish

How to Diagnose and fix the CD/DVD drive not detecting problem on your PC

Some times you might have faced problem with your CD/DVD drive, which will ot detect properly
Reason:
The registry entry of your disc burning software might not have removed properly
Due to hardware error (The CD/DVD drive might have become totally unusable)
Fix:
In Run window, type in: regedit and press Enter
At the Registry Editor window, locate, and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
If the Upper filters key is available,right-click and delete it.
and in the same way delete the Lower filters key also
close registry editor
If you want  to accomplish the steps above automatically, try this  FixIt from Microsoft
This should fix the problem if the issue is with the filter buffers.
try checking the power and data cables of the CD/DVD drive. make sure the cables are properly connected.
If the above doesn't fix the issue, replace the CD/DVD drive.

How to diagnose and fix the display problem on Desktops

Your desktop  may not display properly due to following general reasons

Improper power supply

Improperly connected Power and Display Cords

Improperly connected Display ports

Troubleshooting:

Make sure the power supply is connected and the power buttons are turned on

Reconnect the display and power cords and ensure the connections

Check the quality condition of display and power cords. if required, replace the cords

Identify the correct graphics port (display port/ DVI/VGA) and connect to it (All these port cables will only fit into its exact port)

Try connecting your desktop to a different monitor and if you identify your pervious monitor is faulty, replace it.

How to Auto Shutdown your Ubuntu system from terminal

It is possible to  schedule a time for your Ubuntu PC to go off. For this you can type a simple command at the terminal window

sudo shutdown –h +m

(Replace the m with your desired minutes for the computer to go off)

You will be prompted to enter the password. Type in the password and press enter

If you want to cancel the scheduled shutdown, the command is: sudo shutdown –c

Terminal will ask you for the sudo password. type the password and press enter

(Try the sudo shutdown –c command in a new terminal for proper result)

How to know the Serial Number of your PC using Terminal Command

To get the serial Number of your PC from the terminal window, type this command:

sudo dmidecode –s system-serial-number  and press enter

Terminal will ask you for the sudo password. Enter it and your Computer’s Serial Number will be displayed.

How to add a User Account from Terminal

User Accounts can be created and password protected from terminal. This can be accomplished by typing two commands.

To create a user account type the following command:

sudo useradd –d /home/Andes_Noraa –m Andes_Noraa

In this example,  the Username and Account folder name is:  Andes Noraa

(You can give a different one)

To add password for your account, type in: sudo passwd Andes_Noraa  and press enter

Terminal will ask you to type a new password and after that to re-enter

That's it! The User Account has been created and Password Protected now.

How to delete a user account using terminal command in Ubuntu

The command for deleting user account through terminal is: sudo userdel <username>

You will be asked to enter the sudo password before triggering deletion.

How to change your User Account Password in Ubuntu using Terminal Command

Changing Your User Account password from Terminal is simple

For this, Open Terminal Window

In terminal, type: passwd and press Enter

When terminal prompts you for the current password, type in your Current password and press Enter

Next prompt from the terminal will be for your new password. Retype the new password and press enter.

That's it. Next time you will be able to login with your updated password.

How to get the Model Number of your PC from Command Prompt

It is very simple to get the model number of your PC from command prompt

For this, open command prompt and type in: wmic csproduct get name and press Enter

The Model number will be displayed on the Command prompt screen,

How to retrieve the Serial Number of your PC from Command Prompt

If the Serial number label of your PC is lost, how will you retrieve the Serial number info easily?

The Serial number info can be easily retrieved  from the command prompt by typing a simple command.

At the Command prompt screen, type: wmic bios get serialnumber  and press enter

The Serial Number of your PC will be displayed on the Command prompt Screen.

How to fix the NTLDR missing problem

You might have faced the issue Windows showing up a black screen saying

NTLDR is missing

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

Reason: HDD Cable loose contact

Corrupted NTLDR or NTDETECT.com file

Corrupted boot.ini file

 

Fix: Reseat the HDD cable

Fix the Boot.ini file your MBR repair disc

Insert your Windows Installation disk to the drive and restart the PC

When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.

Once the Windows XP setup menu appears, press the "R" key to repair Windows.

Choose your windows partition by pressing 1 and hit Enter (Generally it is 1. But you have Multiple OS on your PC, this varies)

You will be then prompted for your administrator password, enter the password.

Copy the the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM files from your Windows Installation disk though the Recovery Console. Here in this example, My Computer’s drive letter is F and OS partition is C

so in order to copy the mentioned files, i type  the command below and press Enter

copy F:\i386\ntldr c:\

to copy ntdetect.com, type the below command and press Enter
copy F:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

Once the the files are copied, take off the Windows Installation disc and  type: EXIT and press enter to restart the PC
