How to manage a Internal Network Card on a Windows 7 based Dell PC

On your Windows 7 based Dell laptop, if you have Quickset installed on it, you might have came across the scenario, where you will not be able to go online using a LAN connection, when system is running on  battery. and once you switch to AC adapter power supply, the internet will start working.

What Happens is Quickset disables  the LAN when on battery assuming the Wireless Internet Connection will be used.

To disable this option, follow the steps below.
  •  Plug in the AC adapter and click on the battery icon (Battery icon will show the status as charging) and choose More Power Options

  • You will be presented with Power Options page. Here to the left pane, look for the option Dell Internal Network Card Power Management and click on it.
  •  At the Internal Network Card Power Management window, choose Always Activate on Battery (2nd option) under Internal Network Card Activity settings
  • Click on Apply button .
So next time if you unplug the AC adapter, Quickset wont disable your Internal Network Card (LAN card) until you enable this option back.
